Vmp (Voltage at Maximum Power)

Vmp (Voltage at Maximum Power)

Vmp is the voltage at which a solar panel delivers its maximum power output under standard test conditions. It is a critical value for system voltage design and inverter compatibility.

Usually, you can get this parameter from the back side of a solar panel real product, or from its datasheet before purchasing.

  • Measured Point: Voltage when panel operates at peak performance.

  • Labeling: Found on panel datasheets as “Vmp” or “Vmpp.”

  • Design Use: Used to calculate optimal array configurations.

  • Temperature Sensitivity: Vmp decreases with heat.

  • Matching Components: Must align with inverter MPPT range.
