PERC Technology

PERC Technology

PERC Technology (Passivated Emitter Rear Cell) is a solar cell enhancement that adds a passivation layer to the back of the cell, improving light absorption and boosting panel efficiency. It’s commonly used in modern monocrystalline modules.

A typical PERC solar panel from Canadian Solar with size of 2278 x 1134 is with rated power of around 550 watt.

  • How It Works: Adds an extra layer to reflect unabsorbed light back into the cell.

  • Efficiency Gain: Increases efficiency by 1%–1.5%.

  • Thermal Performance: Better heat resistance compared to standard cells.

  • Adoption: Widely used in high-efficiency modules like Mono-PERC.

  • Future Ready: Compatible with other enhancements like half-cell and bifacial tech.
