Monofacial Solar Panel
Monofacial solar panels are the traditional type that captures sunlight only from the front side. They are widely used for residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications due to their lower cost and simpler installation.
From the above picture, you can see that the back plate of a monofacial panel is a piece of back plate, usually white or black color.
-
Single-Side Generation: Monofacial panels absorb sunlight solely on the front surface.
-
Lower Cost: Typically cheaper than bifacial panels due to simpler design and materials.
-
Widespread Use: Still dominate most rooftop and ground-mounted systems.
-
Structure: Usually glass on the front, with a polymer (backsheet) layer at the rear.
-
Efficiency: Depends on cell type (mono/poly), but generally sufficient for most needs.
